Ras Nungwi hotel's chefs relish the task of preparing elegant and appetizing menus from an abundance of local ingredients, the finest array of seafood and plenty of heavenly tropical fruits. Offering a true fine dining experience, the resort is renowned for its excellent cuisine.

An English breakfast is served daily and comprises an inviting buffet with cereals, fresh fruit, breads and pastries, preserves, yoghurt, and eggs cooked to order. For lunch, enjoy our delicious daily specials including catch of the day and pasta and vegetarian options. Alternatively, the hotel's delectable a la carte menu can also be experienced in the open-air restaurant, by the pool, on the beach, or at the Jahazi Beach Bar. A five course table d’hote menu is served for dinner with occasional seafood buffets and barbeque dinners on offer.

Connoisseurs will also appreciate the winelist, the most extensive in the region, selected to appeal to all palettes and tastes. With the exception of Ras Nungwi's French champagnes, all wines are chosen from award-winning South African vineyards.

There're tonnes of activities at Ras Nungwi. Pool, table tennis, darts, board games (including Bau, a Zanzibarian favourite) and a TV room are available to the guests. Mountain bikes can be hired to explore the environs, or you may just want to take long strolls on our unspoilt beach.

Ras Nungwi Zanzibar: The Design of the Hotel

Ras Nungwi hotel makes use of ancient local building traditions to create a contemporary architectural space from natural materials. All main structures are open-air; makuti-thatched ceilings arch high overhead.

The myriad pathways at Ras Nungwi are shaded by elegant palms, creating soft sun-dappled walkways between beach and banda, balcony and bar. The deck-level swimming pool is lined with glass mosaic tiles in shades of blue. The interiors are beautifully decorated in ethnic style, with inspired use of local fabrics such as khangas, kikois and kitenges.

Set in tropical gardens, the hotel's Peponi Spa offers an array of rejuvenating, pampering and holistic treatments to calm the mind, body and soul.

Built with the use of natural materials and designed using only warm tones and simple lines, it provides a calming atmosphere in which to completely relax. Restful music and the subtle aroma of essential oils also add to our spa experience. Experienced therapists conduct all treatments.

All 32 rooms are tastefully furnished, with hand-crafted four poster beds and indigenous decor. All rooms have balconies, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, hair-dryers, electronic safes and en suite facilities with deluxe bathroom amenities.

The Lodge Rooms & Chalets

Lodge Rooms have a garden view and both types of chalet room (Superior and Superior Deluxe) have a sea view, with proximity to the ocean being closer the higher the category. All room categories are fitted with mini-bars. Superior deluxe chalet rooms also have iPod docks and and other special extras. The flagship accommodation unit at Ras Nungwi is the luxurious Ocean Suite.
