The groom and guests await the arrival of the bride. The bride arrives, accompanied by a solo violinist and the ceremony takes place.

During the ceremony, a 20 strong Swahili choir sings, rejoicing the union in KiSwahili. After the ceremony, a glass of bubbly is served to toast and congratulate the wedding couple. Guests slowly make their way down to the jetty, through the botanical gardens for which Mbweni is famous. Sugarcane juice and Zanzibar Pizza are served on the jetty in Forodhani night market style. Guests walk down the long jetty, past the mangroves, where they board the traditional dhows and sail towards Stone Town. The dhow is accompanied by the sound of live African jazz music. The sails are hoisted, the ‘kusi’ winds fill the canvas and push north past Stone Town bay and past the old Dhow harbour.

Embrace the sunset overlooking Bawe and Prison Island and celebrate the union while sipping sundowners. Destination, Mtoni Marine Restaurant; from afar you can see the bonfires on the beach. Disembarking the dhows on the sands of Beit il Mtoni, the wedding party is welcomed with the festive sight and sounds of African Ngoma Drummers and Dancers. The party is seated at candlelit tables, on the beachfront which is naturally lit with burning torches, lanterns and open bonfires.

The Restaurant at Mtoni Marine is open just for you - dine with feet in the sand under the starry skies to a Seafood Fiesta. Chocolate brownie wedding cake (to die for) is served. After dinner, dance to the tunes mixed by our famous, DJ Eddy on the sea sand dance floor…
